This winter the Doctoral Consortium week went back to the beautiful Tennen Mountains in the Austrian Alps. From 26 to 28 of February, students and faculty got together at the Hackelhütte for a cozy discussion of Entanglement Theories in HCI.
Between sunny (but cold!) hikes and nice food, we had a few introductory presentations to Entanglement HCI, followed by extensive conversations on specific theories and concepts such as Actor Network Theory, Object Oriented Ontology, Mediation Theory, Postphenomenology, Neo-animism, Situated Knowledges, Critical Post-humanities, and Matters of Care.
This was a great opportunity for the students to take the time to ask questions and critically reflect on these complex theories in relation to the field of HCI in general, but also thinking of our individual approaches.
